I come from a tropical island country and because of my location, heated flushed skin often been my problem. Whenever we’re experiencing colder weather, I’m always getting dry flaky skin around my cheeks.

As if that is not enough, I also got my skin irritated because of the cold, In fact, It’s a really long story but because of all the complications, I started up looking for products or a product that will soothe, hydrate and moisturize my skin as well.

I searched and tested a couple of products including the Klair’s Rich Moist Soothing Serum and trust me when I tried this serum, I knew my problems were over though it took a while for me to notice very slightly some of the expected results.

Let Us Take An Overview Of The Serum

The producer of this product, (Klair’s Rich Moist Soothing Serum) claims that it is a magical skincare serum that makes your skin softer, moisture and Keeps your skin radiant and glowing throughout the day at the same time.

That it is made for soothing sensitive skin. To lower the skin surface temperature as it deeply hydrates for the purpose of effectively calming & cooling your skin needs.

Statistics have proven that the serum is also one of the best-selling Klair’s products in the market and since their launch in 2009, they reformulated it, making it even better by taking into consideration the consumer’s intent. (What Consumers Truly Are Looking For In A Good Serum).

It has a semi-thick consistency like a watery gel that is lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin but not watery.

Also, it feels cool on the skin, but not that cool like Vicks Vaporub. It’s more like a refreshing cool with a fresh finish like a sudden cold air in summer.

Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Betaine, Natto Gum, Propanediol, Polyquaternium-51, Disodium EDTA, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Chlorphenesin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Illicium Verum(Anise) Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Panthenol, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Beta-Glucan, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Apium Graveolens (Celery) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Brassica Rapa (Turnip) Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract.

The ingredients you see in bold are the most familiar and with very specific values. Below is a rundown on the values of the few bolded ingredients as I may not include the values of all the ingredients here. It will be a very long and boring review and not good for a reader’s experience.

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Can boost skin’s moisture content, soothe, and helps defend against moisture loss. It is capable of holding up to 1,000 times its own weight in water.
  • Centella Extract: Contains antioxidants and is soothing to the skin.
  • Licorice Root Extract: Has skin-soothing properties. It also may be effective in evening skin tone. It is ideal for sensitive or red/irritated skin.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: Aloe extract, known for soothing irritated skin.
  • Arginine: an amino acid with antioxidant properties.

The first time I got this serum, I thought it would come in a glass container. But no, it’s actually packaged in a sturdy plastic pump bottle which makes it very travel-friendly and very great for me since because, I constantly drop things around the places all the time. I also like the mini cap the container has. It is also well packaged in a box that resembles a Kraft paper.

Three (3) Smart Ways Of Using Klair’s Rich Moist Soothing Serum

1. For Regular Use:

  • Using a compressed cotton pad to apply toner to the face evens out the skin texture.
  • Evenly apply a thin layer of 2-3 pumps of the soothing serum to the whole face.
  • Use a tapping motion to help it absorb.

2. Use A Cooling Care For Sunburn Plus Laser Treatment Care

  • Apply the serum to areas that irritated or red after cooling the serum in the fridge.
  • This quickly soothes and lower skin temperature.

3. Use For Sensitivity and Irritation.

  • After applying a thin layer of the serum with hands,
  • Wet a sponge pad with the serum and use a sheet mask and place on your T-Zone,
  • Wait for about 10min,
  • Apply a thick layer of the serum to the face afterward.
  • For a faster and calming effect, add a layer of the Klair’s Mid-night Blue Calming Cream on top.

Well, I really do not have much to say when it comes to the effectiveness of the serum. This is because, after I used this product for several months, I haven’t noticed any significant difference in my skin.

As a matter of fact, the serum sets pretty quickly on my skin, so I don’t have to wait too long to apply my moisturizer. There isn’t really much difference in my skin before and after application besides it’s feeling slightly smoother.

In terms of oil control, I don’t see it helping my skin get any less oily. In fact, there wasn’t a huge difference on days that I used this serum and days that I didn’t use this serum. My T-zone still felt pretty greasy by the end of the day.

This one has a very familiar floral scent with a hint of lemon. I can’t point out where I’ve smelled it before but it’s a really lovely and soothing scent. It smells familiar because it has the same smell as the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask!

Who Is It For?

This serum is good for those you who are constantly experiencing heated and flushed skin issue, who have been struggling with easily irritated and hard to calm skin, who are always moisturizing but never feeling truly hydrated. The Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum might be the answer to your skin issues.

What I Like About This Product.

The price is very affordable ($22.99), Product quantity (80%) unlike other products with a big bottle but just about 40% of the product quantity. The serum is vegan-friendly but cruelty and paraben free. It also has very soothing ingredients as listed above.

It is a very excellent serum for sensitive skin. The serum is also safe for acne prone skin, very travel-friendly due to the pocket size (very portable). The serum does not add any artificial fragrance.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

The serum could be more hydrating and might not have a noticeable long term effect. The serum is easily replaceable

Sometimes upon application, it foams up a little.

NB:  I Need You To Understand That Your Skin’s Hydration Level Could Be. The Key Factor For  Long-Lasting And Flawless Make Up. A Well-Moisturized Skin Secretes Fewer Oils And helps your makeup work Well with your skin. And not against It. So When Your Skin Is Moisturized On A  Cellular Level And An Optimal Balance Is Reached, A Hydration Barrier Will Support The Health Of Your Skin.

To conclude my experience with this serum, I was not impressed with this product because it’s texture. It’s quite similar to the Klair’s Supple Preparation Facial Tonner and the effects are not visible quickly at all. The serum did not do anything for my skin besides hydrate.

The moisturizing effect and oil control were not visible at all for me. The drier parts of my skin got flaky throughout the day and my T-zone was well the same as usual, oily. This is quite pricey for serum as well!

If you’re curious about this, give it a try! But if not, layering their toner a few times probably gives the same level of hydration to your skin like this serum does.

How To Choose A Good Serum

How do you choose a good serum from a bad one? Good knowledge on how to choose a good serum ahead of a bad one makes you a very knowledgeable consumer. And knowledgeable consumers are the once the end up with a positive result in whatever venture they get into.

Let us take a look at what are involved in choosing a good serum to buy.

1. Texture:

It should be such that when you apply it, it possesses these qualities: –

It should absorb deep within the skin and should have a fresh finish.

2. Cooling Effects:

The serum should be able to change your skin temperature after you apply it. Your skin temperature should drop after you apply the serum.

3. Absorption Rate:

Unlike other brand serum with low absorption rate, the Klair’s Serum absorbs very well into the skin to obtain an effective functionality.

4. Moisturizing Effects:

The sole reason for serums is all about moisture so, when you apply the serum, your skin’s moisture level must rise to about plus 9%.

    1. Hi sir, sorry for the delay in response. I have been away in days, just got back. Well, concerning your granddaughter, I will need to know a few things about her skin before i can tell.
What is her skin type? Is she dry skin type, oily skin type, sensitive skin type, normal or combination skin type.
From this information, I will be able to tell if my product is good for her or not. And which one can you buy for her including her skincare routine for the best result? You can send me an email at
      Thank you.

  2. Wow, what a great and informative review! Thanks for taking the time to test it so intensely. I probably won’t be buying this product because I have oily skin and it sounds like this won’t help me, so thanks for saving me time and money on a product that probably wouldn’t help me!

  3. Hi Eric,

Interesting article, I’m always on the look out for new moisturisers and especially ones that don’t contain toxic chemicals. Looking at the ingredients listed I couldn’t see any chemicals that I recognise as being toxic, do you know if this brand promote themselves as being free from SLS, Parabens and toxins?

    1. SLS simply mean Sodium Laureth Sulfate, this is a harsh synthetic detergent ingredient and foaming agent. Its role is to corrode in order to clean. This is not a detergent or a cleanser so it cannot possibly contain such an ingredient. Many companies out there use SLS fundamentally to create a rich lather and for its intense cleaning action.
