An Overview

First of all what is this stuff? This is not a physical exfoliant, which is what I thought when I ordered it. Then the first time I used it, actually took it in the shower one night and washed my face, and then I went to use this and I expected it to be sort of scrubby and then I was asking myself what is this, this is not a physical exfoliant, this is a peeling gel rather.

This is more like the secret key lemon detox peeling gel. It’s similar to this but to me, the skin & lab exfoliator is more of a refined grown-up version of the secret key. I really like the secret key one but I find this to be a little gentler I would say. And this is just such a beautiful polish for your skin even though it’s not like scrubbing it, it’s just like rubbing away at the top dead layers of skin.

Scent & Texture:

The scent of it is sort of fruity and it has this grapefruit scent, it’s like citrusy lemony grapefruit. It scents definitely like grapefruit. The gel is thick and very consistent, very light tinted pink with small orange-colored capsules floating inside.

The actual peach part of this is quite nourishing. And then when the little yellow capsules inside explode during rubbing, those are going to help with the exfoliation process as well as give off vitamin to the skin.

So, you can see it’s not just about exfoliating the skin and removing the clear skin, it’s also about nourishing your skin. For me, I use this baby as an exfoliant. That’s the main purpose but nourish is cool but for me, my focus is on getting off that top dead layer of my skin. I don’t know about you. You may want to go for both. It’s up to you.

Below is a list of the ingredients in this gel…

Water, Glycerin, Quaternium-60, Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Lactose, Cellulose, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose,Niacinamide, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Panthenol, Mannitol, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Polyglyceryl-10 Diisostearate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Butylene Glycol,Bromelain, Papain, Menadione, Caprylyl Glycol, Caffeine, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Red 4 (CI 14700)

The product comes packaged in a white cardboard box. The gel itself is in a 120 ml clear squeezable tube with a flip cap. The flip cap makes it easy enough to squeeze out the recommended quantity of product. The fact that the tube is clear enough to see through, makes it easier for you to see how much product you have left inside.

The outer package has got some dark grey text on it and some orange coloring. The gel itself is got sort of peachy color and it has these tiny little yellow sort of capsule inside. It will last such a long time especially because it is recommended to use just a small amount of the product per use until after a while.

The instructions on the package do say use this like once to twice a week. personally, I would use it more than once a week, the reason I say that is because I do find it quite fun to see all of this dead skin come off but it is not a good idea to use often.

So, please keep the instruction on the package.

The way you use this is to first cleanse your skin, you may just use your face wash whatever and then fully dry your skin on your face and also on your hands. Then take a little bit of it and rub it on your skin using a circular motion for the best result. Eventually, the product will start to dry off, at this point, it also starts to get off that top dead layer of the skin.

You can do this for however long you want. The first time I used this, I was so impressed by how much stuff came off my skin. I was like ‘’oh this is kind of gross’’. I remember the first time I did it, I didn’t actually rub it into my skin for long and yet it works very quickly.

It actually feels really nice when you do this on your hands. It gives you the nicest smoothest hands and all of Silicon Valley. So, that’s how it works. Basically, you just have to continue doing this until you’re satisfied with the amount of skin that is peeling off. Then rinse it off with water as usual but I use a wet hand towel to get all the stuff off.

On the bottom of the package, it says ‘’it gently removes dead skin’’ The vitamin capsules inside help to soften and brighten the skin. For me, it’s just a really great way to remove that top dead layer of your skin plus a really fun way to relive that.

This is the second peeling gel I’ve used with the first being that secret key lemon detox peeling gel I mentioned earlier. I really like both of them but again, I just find the (skin & lab) one just a bit more refined and a little classier of a peeling gel. Nothing wrong with the Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel but this one I definitely do prefer.

What I Like About This Gel

What I like about this product is the smoothness and the fresh finish after using the gel. I also like the fact that it does not only exfoliate your skin but it also has Vitamin capsules inside. This Vitamin nourishes the skin and helps with the exfoliating process.

What I Don’t Like About This Product

The one thing about this product that makes me very uncomfortable is the level of quickness in peeling of those dead skin cells from the skin. Actually, I like and enjoy how effective it works but at the same time, I feel like if I keep rubbing a little longer, it’s going to peel off even that part of the flesh that’s supposed to stay.

So, for that reason, I don’t take time to do my exfoliation. I am always in a hurry to stop before I peel my skin. And this way, I don’t really feel like I did a proper exfoliation. But all the same, I don’t know about you but keeping things at the recommended level is the best.

  • Make sure you apply this on completely dry skin after washing.
  • For oily skin, use just 2-3 time weekly.
  • For normal skin, use 1-2 time weekly.
  • For dry skin, do the same as normal skin.

These recommendations are intended to enable you to achieve the best result with this product.
